Sunday to Monday transitions are always so tough! Why is that? Even without a conventional 9-5 job, I have a difficult time adjusting from Weekend Mode to Monday Mornings.
On the other hand, people that hate Monday through Friday may be in big trouble as well. In the following video, Gary Vaynerchuk explains how living for the weekend only can ba dread, too. He really puts pressure on the conversation as he sees so many people these days that live for the weekend only and cheer for Friday. It’s all about just the “relief” from work, it seems…
But okay, now back to my Mondays… There is that dread of leaving the bed, the zombie walk to pour cereal and milk, and the flipping through the news and emails to see what I’ve missed in the past eight hours of sleep. I mean I feel like I have ten-pound weights pulling down both arms to prevent any resemblance of being productive. I can’t be the only one that feels this way.
So what to do? The greatest thing that motivates me these days is self-care. That’s right, instead of beating myself up with saying such as “Oh why can’t I just get it together?”, or “Why haven’t you accomplish that task yet?” I am revving up the self-care.
If you think of it, it makes so much sense why I am lackadaisical about Monday’s – why beat myself up on something that makes common sense? Instead, I am implementing Manicure Mondays, Monster Music Sessions, and Make it Your Way Mayday. Meaning, as I go through my day, I get to infuse the day with extra doses of fun and pleasure. That, my friend, is the only way I can make the day worth smiling about.
As I take actions in making the day fun, it is amazing how easy my list of things to do becomes. Those weights upon my arms slip off, I find pleasure in writing up my plans and TO-DO lists for the week. I get to acknowledge how great this week is going to be. It is amazing how a little self-care and fun will go a very long way. As you know, I’m active in the online marketing and advertising business and to get my mind clear and set, I really need a few days after the weekend to get focused.
If Monday’s aren’t your problems, it is more Hump Day Wednesday, then pick that day to pour on the self-care. If you are just having a tough day in general, add a special activity into the mix. I guarantee you that your day will start to brighten up, and you will actually get more done with an hour of happiness.
Life isn’t about STRUGGLE, STRUGGLE STRUGGLE. I know many people may tell you that it is, but I am here to tell you it is not. Life is hard, but it isn’t meant to just barely get by, or struggle to be happy. It is about enjoying each day, good and bad.
